カリフォルニア大学心理学部のMary Gauvain教授の講演会を，下記により開催いたします。

講演タイトルは，The Sociocultural Context of Cognitive Development（認知発達における社会文化的文脈）です。認知発達に興味のある方だけでなく，学習，文化に興味のある方にとっても，刺激的な講演であると思います。なお，講演は英語で行われます。多くの方のご来場をお待ちしています。

【Mary Gauvain教授】
カリフォルニア大学心理学部教授。社会的，文化的文脈における思考－プランニングや問題解決スキル－の発達を専門としている。著作として，The social context of cognitive development(2001)（単著），Readings on the development of children (4th ed.)（2005）（Cole,M. との共著）などがある。

The Sociocultural Context of Cognitive Development

【講演概略】
This presentation will discuss the theoretical and empirical basis of a sociocultural approach to cognitive development. The sociocultural approach views cognitive development as a social and cultural process that takes shape in individual psychological experience, including intelligent action and other forms of self-expression. In this view, the experiences that children have with other people and with the symbols and tools of their culture guide and support the development of thinking skills. Collectively, these experiences support and maintain culture through psychological development. The presentation will discuss the various psychological processes that are involved in child development in sociocultural context and use empirical evidence to support the view that human development does not reside in the child or in the social context but in the child-in-the-social-context.
